Lightning Quarter Garage was created by Neil Webster and Mark Franklin to meet the needs and dreams of enthusiasts just like ourselves.
We have ridden, driven and raced on two and four wheels all over the world and are just as excited about getting behind the steering wheel or handlebars today as we were when we were teenagers.
Neil began his career as a journalist, moving into the automotive world as a reporter for Motor Cycle News. After several years travelling the world, roles in racing communications followed, working for names such as Marlboro, Yamaha Europe, Suzuki Japan and JPS Norton in Formula One, rallying, motorcycle grands prix, moto cross and Superbikes.
He joined Triumph Motorcycles in the mid-90s to create and run their global customer relations organization, the Riders Association of Triumph, before moving to France in 2000 to become European Marketing Manager. Other roles followed, including international dealer development manager, exports sales manager and managing director of Triumph France and Switzerland.
As a business development consultant, Neil spread his wings into new areas including establishing Harley-Davidson’s first dealership in Algeria and setting up distribution in Russia for snowmobile and quad-bike brands.
A fluent French speaker, Neil was managing director of MV Agusta France, where he met Mark, who occupied the equivalent post for Italian manufacturer in the UK.
Neil has ridden all over the world, while as a racer he’s competed internationally in both off-road and road racing and on four wheels in gearbox karts and autograss. His current ride is a race-prepared 1966 MGB.
Mark also has a racing past, with spells in Formula Palmer Audi, Supersport 400 motorcycles and the Malaysian Superbike Championship.
After touring the world by motorcycle in his 20s, Mark entered the automotive business as a riding instructor in London before moving into sales with a London dealership and then as National Sales Manager for Piaggio.
Success in that role led to Mark being appointed managing director of Piaggio Asia-Pacific, where he spent seven years based in Singapore covering markets including Australia and New Zealand, China, South-East Asia, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The opportunity to move back to the UK as managing director for MV Agusta brought Mark back home. He then met Neil and the idea of Lightning Quarter Garage started to take shape.
Several months’ planning followed, including the creation of our parent consulting company Intelligence Engines Ltd, before Lightning Quarter Garage finally opened its doors on March 1, 2017.
With over 60 years’ combined automotive industry experience, we have focused our enthusiasm and knowledge into ensuring that Lightning Quarter Garage is a special place. For one thing, we only sell cars and motorcycles that excite us. If it doesn’t make us buzz it doesn’t come through the door.
The result is an eclectic and ever-changing selection of British ‘modern classic’ sports cars and first-class sports motorcycles.
With an automotive library to browse through and a landscaped Scalextric track to try your skills on, there’s always something to make a visit worthwhile.
In addition to sales of our own vehicles, we offer a commission sales service, so give us a call if you have a suitable vehicle you’d like to sell.
Whatever your interest, we look forward to seeing you soon to view our collection, relax with a tea or coffee and enjoy our special experience.
You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram and keep an eye on our website for details of our latest stock and activities.
Every vehicle comes with a history file
Every client at Lightning Quarter Garage gets a signature high quality embossed record book with their vehicle to ensure all documents, provenance and service history is documented and kept safely. A small touch but our clients are as excited by detail as we are!
